How to keep a quiet time journal. Helping you gather the needed resources to have a quiet time with your journal.

One of my New Year Resolutions this year is to have a daily quiet time with the Lord. I wanted to share some of the ideas that I plan to implement come January 1, 2007.

My quiet time will take place early in the morning before my household begins to stir. Now this may sound easy, but I am a night owl, so this means early to bed and early to rise for me. My goal is to get up at 6:00am every morning and have my prayer time and than go into my quiet time.

Quiet time to me is: Reading the Bible, journaling, reading other devotional material. Meditating on the things that I have read, and memorizing Scripture.

Your quiet time can be tailored to fit your own needs. You can do it in the evening, on your lunch hour. Just remember to have your journal with you.

You can use your quiet time to share the days events, your to-do list, appointments. The possibilities are limitless.

I have a separate journal that I purchased especially for this quiet time. You might want to buy a separate journal for this or incorporate it into your current journal, the choice is yours.

I have added to my daily calendar this appointment each day to insure that I meet my goal.

I plan to include, quotes that touched me in some way as I read them. Psalms that relate to my current circumstances. Scripture that I feel is applicable to my life at the moment. Keeping a list of the books I am reading and what insight I have gleaned from them. Future journaling prompts that I want to explore with my journal.

You can also use your quiet time journal as a reader's journal and keep track of what you are reading. Another great thing about a quiet time journal is it is a place that you can dump all the thoughts that are in your head. Just write whatever comes to mind. This is an awesome way to clear your head. Share your feelings, hurts and concerns with your quiet time journal. This will help you get a clearer perspective of what is taking place and how to handle it.
