Finding a job is difficult. However, when you have a disability job hunting turns into an astronomical challenge. Before I had a baby I wanted a job using my education degree. I went on many interviews, but I always ended up empty handed. So, I tried a different approach.

I decided to implement what I could do instead of focusing on closed doors. I went online and emailed people about working for them. I have had very fulfilling jobs online. The jobs that I found have built my experience.

Now I’m on the job hunt yet again. I admit that I’m scared to death of not being able to find work. It’s a scary feeling and almost hopeless! But now is not the time for self pity.

I am finding job searching can be really frustrating. But you can’t give up. No matter how depressed you may feel, keep plugging away. The right job is available. You might need to adapt yourself too. For example, when I couldn’t find a teaching job, I changed my approach to online employment. Being flexible is essential.

Job Hunting Tips:

1.Build A Resume – A resume is something that tells people who you are and what you know. If you have a word processor program, you can find a template to use. Just fill in the desired information.

2. Analyze Your Positives – Focus on what you can do. Are you computer savvy? Do you enjoy online work? Are you creative? Think outside the box.

3. Education Is Key – The more education you have, the better. An education helps you be more employable.

4. Get Out There – Jump on Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, and Craigslist.org and search. Send your resume off to as many jobs that meet your abilities. Scan the newspapers. Spread the word that you are looking for work.

5. Keep It Up – Never give up meeting your goals. You are not a quitter.
