Valentine's Day Lapbook Review

A Journey Through Learning has a wonderful Valentine's Day lapbook out, along with a study guide, geared for grades second through six. Enjoy the season of love by creating this fun and educational lapbook with your homeschooler!

There are clear instructions for assembling this three folder lapbook, including a supply list to do this project. Even if you are new to lapbooking with your child, you will find assembly of this book easy and enjoyable. The book begins with a cute picture to print of children having fun at a Valentine's Day party. This is designed to be on the cover of the lapbook if desired. You can print the picture in color, or black and white to customize the characters. The picture is only partly completed, however, as it is designed for your child to fill in the Valentine decor and surroundings.

The informational journey begins with a description of what Valentine's Day is, as well as the history of this special day. There is a good description of how Valentine's Day was celebrated in the Middle Ages, as well as a clear places to have your homeschooler write facts they have learned. I love the calendar included, as all children need calendar work (some adults too)! There are even some jokes for your child to cut out and put in their book for a humorous touch.

The first Valentine and love poem are detailed in a family friendly way, along with some super cute "coupons" for your child to print. These coupons make wonderful gifts that are free to give to family and friends! There is an informative section detailing how Valentine's Day is celebrated in the United States, as well as several other countries. These insightful facts have a special place for your child to write them in their book.

The symbol of Cupid is discussed, along with the meanings of other Valentine's Day symbols, like roses and hearts. Mini pizzas and cookie pops are just a few of the valentine themed recipes that are included in this lapbook, too. This is a nice touch for any budding chefs, and the recipes are easy enough for any child to enjoy.

Also included is a "Ways to Say I Love You" wheel, with seven languages and how "I love you" is said in these languages. The crossword puzzle is really neat, and the questions are challenging. There is also a bibliography, suggested reading list and pages for your child to narrate or draw a picture about this lapbook. All you are missing is a big box of chocolate! Have fun with this festive and calorie free lapbook!
