With an experimental, psychedelic and rock sound, The Wides are taking Eastern Canada by storm, and they arenít willing to do it quietly. Although the band is unsigned, they are not allowing that to slow them down on their road to success.
In a combined attempt to release their aggression in a harmless, musical and beautiful way, The Wides were born. Their music is conducive to pumping fists, swilling beer and shouting expletives Ė and their fans donít seem to have any problem with it. The Wides band members include Mitch Carree (guitar), Justin Crowe (drums/guitar), Adam LeDrew (guitar/drums), Marcus Wood (bass) and Sean Snell (vocals).
Located in Halifax, NS, these 20-somethings call Canada their home and have toured across the Maritime Provinces to spread their name. Although three out of the five members have been playing together since grade nine, the musicians mesh their sounds so well together itís as though they were playing together from the very beginning of each of their music careers.
I was lucky enough to attend their most recent show in Dartmouth, NS and I am proud to call myself a fan. Their sound was loud and raw, their songs were emotional and thought-provoking and their presences made you want to get up and join in with the crowd of dedicated fans.
The Wides released their first five-song EP in November 2009, which was recorded by Andrew Wiseman in Dartmouth, NS. After a budding success over the past few years, The Wides put together their second EP - a simple three-song recording - and released it on December 2011. Keeping it simple, the band performed in guitarist LeDrewís garage at his family home in Westville, NS and the songs were recorded by long time friend, Luke Mumford.
The five talented musicians that create The Wides are dedicated and passionate about their rock Ďní roll artwork. If these artists are able and willing keep up this hard work and music genius, all while keeping their humility and small-town roots intact, I can only imagine great success and musical growth for them.
