Beast Make Bomb Review

With a garage rock and concrete/post-punk sound, Beast Make Bomb creates a mixture of indie-pop melodies and punk rock music to produce powerful, yet tasteful music. With their delicate vocals and pronounced stage energy, BMB is sure to make an impact on the music industry that their currently emerging into.

Meeting in 2009, these fellow NYU students share a love of music and a post-punk attitude which inspired them to form Beast Make Bomb together. The four Brooklyn-inhabiting band members include Enn Van Dyke (lead guitar), Ceci G (vox and guitar), Sam Goldfine (bass) and Hartley Lewis (drums). Each member is from a separate part of the country - Texas, Florida, Ohio, & New York, for example - but the Big Apple is where they all currently call home.

Since forming in 2009, Beast Make Bomb has released two EPs, the first in 2010 was titled Skinny Legs, and their most recent release in 2011 called Sourpuss. With musical influences including the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground, Stooges, Libertines, Bikini Kill, Television, Blink 182 and the Slinkies, BMB has chosen some of the best to use as an inspiration for their own unique sound. I personally love the indie-folk-pop sounds that are intertwined throughout a garage punk base, and I believe that Beast Make Bomb will have a lengthy and popular career if they are able to keep their music original and unique to the sounds that they have today.

Although Beast Make Bomb is currently unsigned, they still are meeting great success and making waves in the music industry. To date, they have toured the country and opened for bands such as Cold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club and The Whigs. BMB was also featured at Rolling Stone Magazine’s 2011 South by Southwest showcase, where they shared the stage with Queens of the Stone Age. Is that something to be proud of? I think so.
