Review of, “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”

“Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway,” was written by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. This book is a powerful self-help book. In it, the author Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. basically talks about being able to stop caving to fear and becoming educated. When a person becomes educated they are more apt to remove some of their fears. In my understanding, many fears come when we are afraid of the unknown; however, when one becomes educated, it is no longer unknown. This book is all about getting past our fears and being able to stop trying to control outside factors in life. It’s about being content with who we are as individuals.

According to Susan Jeffers, Ph.D., fears will always be there. It isn’t going to disappear and leave us with mountains of self-confidence. In every new circumstance in life, there will be a sense of fear. Therefore, we have to walk through the fear in order to achieve what we want to do. Fear shows up whenever we are feeling threatened or frightened, such as when we are confronting something new, or when we are struggling to feel better about ourselves.

Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. reminds us that power can be a positive force in our lives. Apparently, the power is all about recognizing fear and pushing through it. It is also about how we react to the fear that we feel. In the midst of fear there is an opportunity to grow inwardly. Within this book are also special activities that the reader can do in order to help with the process to change.

Throughout this book is the fact that a person has to be willing to change. Without that willingness, we cannot change and we remain in fear. Fear doesn’t have to grip us. On the contrary, we can react positively to our circumstances and bring about change in our lives.

I recommend this book to any one that has endured child abuse, or any form of abuse for that matter. I also recommend this book to those that are struggling with their circumstances in life. The words in this book have the capacity to touch the heart in a deep way. The author constantly reminds the reader that fear does not have to control our lives. Indeed, we can walk through the fear and control our own lives.
