I love this book!

A Brits’s Scrapbook: Going Native in Murcia is the books main title, it’s sub-titled The Essential Guide for Visitors, Expats and Homebuyers.

It’s a book with a lot of titles, which cover the load of information within its covers.
This is the second edition and it’s great. So easy to dive into, it’s not a book to read cover to cover, it’s a dive in for a tasty morsel or two and come back for more.

It’s fun, yet packed with delicious bits of information such as restaurant reviews and tapas haunts along with individual towns write-ups with relevant eateries, things to do and places to visit in them.

I am really impressed by the team who has pulled this guide together, and I understand they are looking to print guides for every area of Spain. That will be an amazing accomplishment and a very needed resource for holidaymakers and expats alike.

If you’re looking for guide books or house purchase guides this is the one - if it’s a day visit, a buyer’s trip or a new-life move, this book has it all. Even if you never have any intention to go to Spain or Murcia, it’s an amusing read by people who “made” a new life in Spain.

The authors, Debbie and Marcus Jenkins, took the plunge, bought property in Spain, survived the bureaucracy and the frustrations, and with their humour still intact they share with us the place they have come to know as home. This book is the fruit of their experiences and will be more than welcome by those contemplating a move to Spain, especially Murcia themselves.

Their experiences can only benefit future visitor to the area. If you’re thinking about buying property in Spain, want to know where to see wild boar or learn about the new craze of geocaching (it’s a outdoor paper chase, without the paper but with a GPS – new to me anyway,) it’s all here, within these 200 packed pages.

Born from a sheer lack of information available, they have more than made up for it with this book. With maps and map references for the local towns, local wines and where to try them, there isn’t much missing in this reprint.

The essential guide it’s called, I call it invaluable – thanks Marcus and Debbie for all your hard work, and amazing note keeping while testing the waters – the wine and the gastronomy in Murcia and surroundings.
