As a former professional actress and one who began her acting career as an adolescent, I can appreciate the innovative work being done to inspire young audiences so evident at Minnesota's, The Children's Theatre Company. Their efforts to develop the careers of young actors is truly remarkable. Naturally, as a young actress, I needed nurturing in order to grow and explore my talents, but I also required a vehicle whereby I could practice my emerging craft. The Chlildren's Theatre Company provides ongoing programs to allow youngsters to stretch their acting ability. Each theatre season, The Children's Theatre Company showcases six productions inspired from a variety of sources such as:
classic tales, original material and well-known works of international renown.

In addition, The Children's Theatre Company continues to enjoy the reputation as one of the most prestigious groups, as a result of having received several Tony nominations for its production of A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD on Broadway.
Young actors appear to thrive in an arena which emphasizes excellence and achievement in the theatre. Further, it proves motivating to be part of a company with an outstanding track record of success. Success only breeds more success for the emerging young actor in a business where "many are called, but few are chosen," to quote Scripture. We all know about how challenging a theatre career can be, yet The Children's Theatre Company provides a strong support system.

The Children's Theatre Company's dedication to the development of young actor's skills and professionalism in the theatre world, deserves praise. The company involved in a great deal of community outreach, founded in 1965, continues to depend on private donations to further its endeavors since ticket sales alone cannot underwrite all the programs it provides. Part of its vision has been to not only provide theatre training for youth, but also to create ways to use theatre-in-education and community development.

The participation of volunteers is always welcome at CTC in departments such as:
education, audience development and in capacities such as ushering.
