Brief History: The Selani Corporation opened its doors in October 2005 in Exton, Pennsylvania and was the entrepreneurial idea of plus size mother Anita M. Broady. When Broady started the company she wanted to bring "practical products" to consumers like herself. Her first product is a delightful idea called Luvees. Luvees sole purpose is to relieve inner thigh rub and the discomfort and awkwardness often associated with it. Any woman who has had to put up with warm inner thighs on a summer day or the swishing of pantyhose can relate to this ingenious product.
Product: Luvees Panty Coverall, Luvees Thigh Coverall.
Description: Two designs available. Thigh Coverall (worn on upper thigh) and Panty Coverall (looks like a bicycle short but prettier). Body: 100% Nylon; Inner panel: 98% cotton, 2 % spandex; Outer Panel: 78% Nylon, 22% spandex; Trim: 98% nylon, 2 % spandex. Available in sizes small (4-6) to 4x (28-30) and comes in a choice of black, white, pink and nude. A soft cotton panel rests against the inner thigh's skin with a satiny outer panel slides against the opposite one. These panels are held in place by a soft stretch lace. The lace is a soft stretch, it is not girdle material. The thigh portions are 7.5" in length. Reinforced stitching. Machine washable.
Packaging: Comes folded and securely wrapped in small plastic bag. Delivered via discrete simple white shipping envelope.
Price: A reasonable $22.50 - $27.00
Comments: One of the things that drew me to Luvees was the marketing tagline: "The Freedom of Bare Legs". From an early age, bare legs under skirts have been an uncomfortable, sticky, noisy (pantyhose) and sometimes painful occurrence. So much so I haven't worn dresses in years. So I was excited when I opened up my package.
The product description calls Luvees "revolutionary, lightweight, breathable, attractive, lingerie garment that relieves thigh burning and chafing in females of all ages and sizes whose thighs rub together." I agree with this statement wholly but I would like to add that it is a preventative garment rather than a garment that "relieves" although if you did have a breakout from your thighs rubbing I could see how it would relieve the discomfort.
One of the pluses of this garment is the no "swishing" aspect often associated with pantyhose and biker shorts. The Panty Coverall is incredibly comfortable but I didn't have as much luck with the Thigh Coverall; one kept working its way down my leg.
The product is machine washable and dries quickly so if you wanted to rinse them out after wearing you could. After washing they resumed their pre-wearing size and didn't appear to shrink. I'm not expecting a long life on this garment because I can see wearing these becoming an addiction especially with the impending summer months. Luckily, the reasonable pricing allows purchasing more than one.
On the downside, after a few hours the nylon lace developed minute pilling but I did not notice any pilling on the satiny pads. The pilling certainly wouldn't interfere with the use of the product but I wanted to mention it. If you have nails you have to be extra careful not to puncture the nylon lace. If you have soft flab it does make a slight indent and would be noticeable under tight clothing. The sizing comes in double sizing, 20-22, 24-26, which makes it difficult to make an accurate fit on the thigh coveralls. The lace stretches by the end of the day, while this is ok for the panty coverall it isn't for the thigh coverall.
Satisfaction: If you suffer from inner thigh woes and long for breathable bare legs I highly recommend trying out Luvees. They are breathable, comfortable, easy care and affordable. I plan on using them a lot this summer. Improvement wise, I would like to see a thicker band on the thigh coveralls as they just didn't work on my funnel shaped legs. My favorite aspect besides the lack of noise and comfort was how breathable they felt and my clothing didn't stick to them. Luvees comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee within 30 days. Try 'em!
