A Taste of Honey

Hello, and welcome back! The temperatures have cooled down again here, which is fine with me, but it's rainy, which isn't good for baseball in the evenings. It is good, however, for getting more reading done, and that's wonderful, considering just how many May books are stacked up here on the corner of my desk. Before I get too far into them, though, I have two last April releases to share with you, and the first of the May books.

The Perfect Stranger (Brava) by Alison Kent is up first with the latest in her SG-5 series. Jack's got the mother of all hangovers, and now he's discovered that while he was drunk he got married? Somehow, he doesn't believe that. But Jillian Endicott needs him, almost as much as he's going to need her to get out of this jungle alive. I started this one with high hopes, but started skimming early on. I'm not a Kent fan, and this one didn't convert me. 'Adventure romances', with stories a la 'Lara Croft', aren't to my liking, but I'm certain some of you feel differently.

Wild, Wicked and Wanton (Berkley Heat) by Jaci Burton is next. Three best friends make a bet, that each of them will spend a sexy weekend with the man her two friends choose for her or foot the bill for a trip to Vegas. Abby is up first, with the two vets she's been training with, Mike and Seth. But two men? And is there really a chance for a happy ending with one or both? Then it's Blair's turn, with Rand, the one man she'd never choose for herself, because she knows he's completely wrong for her. Callie goes last, with her favorite fantasy man, Jack. He comes from a different world, but the two of them are set to explore some fantasies together anyway. Plenty of hot sex here, but not so much in the way of convincing romance, except in the case of Rand and Blair, which was the best of this trio of stories.

A Taste of Honey (Aphrodisia) by Jami Alden is next with the three sexy Donovan brothers, Jake, Nick and Mike, all about to meet their matches in women from their past. Jake hooks up with Kit Loughlin at a gathering for a friend's wedding, but he doesn't know she's using him as fodder for her column. Nick can't keep his mind off Kelly Sullivan when she comes back to their small town, or his hands, for that matter. But Kelly's not staying for long. Mike and Karen Sullivan were in love a long time ago, but he walked away. Now, a chance meeting reignites the heat between them, and Mike may find out some things weren't exactly the way he believed long ago. Three sexy brothers, three hot stories. I liked this one a lot, and the romance in this more than stands up to the erotic aspects of the stories, giving this one the right to be called erotic romance. Good stuff.

Until next time, happy reading!
