Pastor Constance "Connie" Flint, the mother of Ms. Kimberly Battle, Program Director of WPZE Praise 97.5 (a Radio-One station) and Pastor of Truth Evangelistic Ministries, Inc., passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Pastor Flint recently suffered a stroke but the cause of her death had not been confirmed in time for this article.
A memorial concert will be held on Thursday May 10, 2007 at The Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1879 Glenwood Ave. in SE Atlanta. The concert is set to begin at 7 pm.
Her funeral will take place at St. Phillip AME Church, 240 Candler Road in Atlanta, Georgia at 11 am.
Flint had worked in the radio industry for several years starting her career at WAOK-AM where she was a popular gospel DJ. She left there and begin working at Praise 97.5 FM first as an on-air personality and finally as the Program Director for the station.
I had the chance to meet Pastor Flint in person at the Spirit of Hip Hop Concert which is held each year by Corey "Co-Co Brother" of sister station Hot 107.9. She was kind, warm and a very sweet person. I told her I was a fan and that she was a joy to listen to. When I begin to write my article on top gospel DJ's she was right there at the top of my list and readily agreed to an interview. However when one of her church member's passed away she called and informed me that we would have to set up an interview later because she would have to preach at the funeral. That was how dedicated Pastor Flint was to her ministry at Truth Evangelistic. As a matter of fact the last time I saw her was at Stephen Hurd's CD release party and she again agreed so graciously to an interview. Unfortunately we never got the chance for that make-up interview, a fact that saddens me today.
I along with all of her friends, family and fans will miss Connie. Our loss is truly heavens great gain. God speed Pastor Flint.
