Thunderbird 2 is popular and free multi-platform email/news client. Thunderbird 2 has a number of new exciting features which makes it very easy to use. Version 2 has improved things even more. The main reason thunderbird is so popular is because of the number of extensions (add-ons) that are available. You can basically get extensions that allow you to do pretty much anything you want.
New Features of Thunderbird 2
Tagging is one of my favorite new feature. You are able to create message tags to help you to organize your email. Place your messages into certain categories as they arrive, then find emails by searching for the category. This is very useful feature if you have lots of emails.
Organize and display your folders, whether by favorites, recently viewed or folders containing unread messages. With this feature you can organize your inbox effortlessly.
This feature offers “back” and “forward” buttons. These are fairly simple however they make navigating your messages very easily.
Merge Web Mail Accounts
Thunderbird 2 makes it even easier to join together and use different Web mail accounts from one inbox. It is possible to import messages from Gmail and Mac email accounts in a mere matter of minutes. It can be accomplished through the “create an account” wizard.
Thunderbird 2 runs on Mac, Windows, Linux operating system and also available in multiple language.
Improved search, quick search, save your searches, advanced junk mail filtering and mail capabilities are another features available in Thunderbird 2. You can also customize your email inbox and email template the way you want.
Thunderbird 2 isn’t for everyone in my opinion it’s better than Outlook Express in terms of functionality, however many people will feel more comfortable with Outlook Express as it’s easier to understand. If you require more functionality and features than Outlook Express or Windows Mail can offer then you should certainly consider using Thunderbird 2. If you’re just after a basic email
client then Outlook Express will probably suffice. Thunderbird 2 has quite an active community which means you can find tips how to do pretty much anything if you are prepared to search for long enough! Thunderbird is completely free, which must surely make it worthwhile to look at!
Before installing, make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
