Savory Grilled Chicken Wings Recipe

When the weather gets warm everyone heads out to the yard or patio to start grilling. These easy to make savory grilled chicken wings are delicious. The wings are not barbecued so they will not have an intense flavor. The marinade is fairly subtle, with liquid smoke added. The chicken wings have a nice smokey flavor. Your guests can add their own heat to the wings by adding hot pepper sauce. However, these chicken wings are so good all that is really needed is a crisp green salad and maybe some roasted corn on the cob.

If you prefer a heartier meal add creamy potato salad, cole slaw or a three bean salad. If you want a hot side, open a large can of baked beans heated with a brown sugar added.

INGREDIENTS

20 chicken wings (tuck wings under thick part of bone)
3 Tbspn grapeseed oil
3 large garlic cloves, finely minced
2 tspn parsley
2 tspn oregano
2 tspn black pepper
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 tspn liquid smoke (hickory flavor)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat outdoor grill.

Mix ingredients together in a bowl and blend well to make a marinade for the chicken wings. Place chicken wings in a large zip lock plastic bag, pour marinade into bag, zip lock bag and shake gently. Let chicken wings marinate in refrigerator overnight or at least 4 hours.

Grill chicken wings over high heat until lightly golden and succulent. Bring out the hot sauce for those who want more kick to the wings.

2 to 3 wings should make an adult serving, depending on the size of the chicken wings.

Hints

*Buy cole slaw in bag and cole slaw dressing from supermarket. Mix and refrigerate to meld flavor.

*Buy fresh or frozen corn on the cob. If fresh, remove husk and silk then break or cut in half to make 4 to 6 inch pieces. Place corn in boiling water at a full roll. Cover and turn off heat. Let stand for 5 mins. Remove from heat and place several pieces of corn in heavy foil with thin pats of butter and a sprinkling of parsley. Twist close and place on grill. When chicken is cooked the corn will be ready.
