The next step for adding timing to your spellwork is actually a wonderful way to start some hands on thinking to your magic. If you are learning or just starting out following the path, you can start by becoming more aware of the world around you. Your focus must turn outward before it can turn inward. To find your own place in the macrocosm of the universe you are becoming more aware of time itself. Many have never considered what time it is other than to glance at a watch or clock. Every minute changes where we are in relation to the ebb and flow of our universe and unlocking that rhythm is key to bringing strength and understanding to the craft.
Here we will create a simple chart that shows planetary influences in relation to the hours of the day. This is a good basic knowledge for everyone-no matter what you are going to do with it. Simple to lay out, this chart will clearly show not only the shifting planets but how they eventually come back to the same point, again and again. There is beauty in the cycle of everything. You simply have to stop and contemplate that beauty.
Take a piece of parchment, any size, or a page in your BOS and place the days of the week across the top of the page. On the left hand side of the page, put the words Sunrise and the numbers 1 through 12 then the word Sunset and the numbers 1 through 12. This indicates 1 hour after sunrise, 2 hours and so on. The planetary sequence is next. Under the Sunday column, put Sun then Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars until the column is full. The last hour of sunrise is Saturn and the first hour of sunset is Jupiter. Moving to the Monday column, Start with the ruling planet: the Moon. Continue down the column in the same way. Once this chart is filled in, you can easily narrow your timing of a spell to the day and hour of the day for the most energy.
If this seems daunting after several serious tries and emailing me for help, you can purchase a ready made planetary chart. Even if you do make this chart, some of the premade ones are beautiful and make wonderful artwork for your home. They also make a nice subliminal reminder of the power of the universe every time we glance at it.
Next week, using herbal correspondences.
