Book Review--The Revolution: A Manifesto

I hope that you’re gearing up for your favorite summer reads as you head to the beach or lounge by the pool. A must read, especially during this election year, is The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul. The New York Post once wrote of Ron Paul as one who “cannot be bought by special interest.” As you read through this book, you get a sense of a man who is intelligent, well read, and full of integrity.

He talks a great deal of Ludwig Von Mises, one of the famous economists and social philosophers of the twentieth century. Ron Paul’s mantra is this quote from Mises: “Do not give in to evil, but proceed ever more boldly against it.” If you have ever watched his speeches at rallies and on C-Span, you can see him deal with evil ever so boldly.

He has definitely done his homework in the school of economics, he explains in layman’s terms on how our economic system works and what needs to be done to fix our current crises. You won’t ever hear this from the major candidates because it is the truth. He also eloquently explains our welfare state, personal liberties, foreign policy, Constitution, and monetary policy. I think McCain and Obama should add this book to their reading list—they can learn a thing or two on what the “role of government should be.”

If you really thirst for the truth and desire to know what real change would be like in our nation then, you have to read this book. It may change your political viewpoint and quite possibly your vote. If you have read some of my previous articles then you know that I am a big fan of Ron Paul. Dr. Ron Paul is one of my heroes—he has “cured my apathy.”

Dave, a MySpace friend, from Hispanics for Ron Paul 2008 states: "Ron Paul is like Galileo. When Galileo, after studying the work of Nicolas Copernicus and making observations with his telescope, revealed to the world that Copernicus was right, and the Earth was indeed not the center of the Universe; he was ridiculed, called insane and rejected by his peers. Finally, taken in by a Spanish Inquisition, he was tortured and locked away. Towards the end of his life, going blind and ravaged by both age and solitude, Galileo recanted, stating that what he had seen was not the truth, and that the Earth was the center of the Universe.

Deep in his heart, of course, Galileo knew the truth. Though he felt as if he failed to bring about change, he would never realize the fruit of his labors. You see, Galileo left published works. They were circulated in secret by those who believed in him and Copernicus' theories, and eventually helped spark a revolution in science and physics that continues to this very day. This did not happen overnight, and was not formally accepted for over a hundred years beyond his death.

We are the ones who support Galileo's view. It is up to us to keep presenting the truth to those with the willingness to listen. We live in a world where information travels at nearly the speed of light, and rather than speaking to just a few people at a time we are capable of reaching thousands every single second.

Our revolution will be one of information. We will use our knowledge and our resources to reach as many as we can, and when the truth goes mainstream, woe to those who dare stand in our way for ignorance has a very limited shelf life, and tends to whither under pressure."

I am one who is part of this revolution, and I passionately spread this message of freedom and liberty to you through my writing.
