2004 Holiday Gift Guide

Looking for a last minute Yule gift for someone on your list? Books are both easily accessible and loved and appreciated by most pagan folk! Here are some of the best books that have found their way to my bookshelf recently.

Fiction:

ON FIRE’S WINGS
Know someone who enjoys fantasy fiction? Take a look at this wonderful book from Pagan author Christie Golden. On Fire’s Wings is an exciting story with an elemental flair. The first in a series (guess how many she has planned!) this novel has all of the classic fantasy elements with unexpected twists and turns.

WHITE IS FOR MAGIC
For the teen reader on your list! This is the 2nd in a series by Laurie Faria Stolarz that began with Blue is for Nightmares. This exciting mystery series will keep your teens entranced as they follow the trials of Stacey, a high school student whose nightmares predict scary events for herself and her friends. The next in the series is scheduled to be out sometime in February 2005. Blue is for Nightmares and White is for Magic both earned high praise from the pagan teens in my group!

THE LIVES OF SHADOWS
A mystery of a different sort, this illustrated novel by Barbara Hodgson captivates the reader by giving them both written and visual insight into the characters, and whisks them into the color and drama of Morocco. If you enjoy Nick Bantock or any of Hodgson’s other books you will love Lives of Shadows.

Non Fiction:

THE INNER TEMPLE OF WITCHCRAFT
Author, Christopher Penczak offers readers a wonderful way to study as a solitary. This book and its companion CD’s outline a year and a day program complete with exercises and meditations. The information is great for both solitaries and those who work in groups. In fact, my own group is working through this book together. Looking for something more? Check out THE OUTER TEMPLE OF WITCHCRAFT fort he 2nd year plan.

7 DAYS OF MAGIC
Filled with correspondences and lore, Seven Days of Magic offers a wealth of information about the magic of the days of the week. A compliment to both ritual planning and spell crafting, this book would be a welcome addition to any pagan bookshelf.

THE SECOND CIRCLE
With so many books out there for the novice, it is refreshing to find a book that takes things to the next level in a way that is comfortable yet thought provoking. Another “must read” on my list. Venecia Rauls really helps the reader understand the importance of questioning and exploring new ideas in order to help break through the spiritual barriers we can sometimes run up against.

I hope you find these selections enjoyable and I am sure that the readers on your list will appreciate something new to sink themselves into!
