Hybrid Scrapbooking

What is Hybrid Scrapbooking? If you use your computer to create elements for your scrapbook then YOU are a Hybrid Scrapper!

To completely understand Hybrid Scrapbooking you will first need an understanding of how scrapbooking has evolved in the past few years:

First off we have our traditional hand crafted scrappers. These traditional scrappers collect papers, embelishments and all of the latest and greatest tools to create gorgeous albums of all sizes, most commonly 12x12 albums. Traditional scrappers generally only use the computer to create titles, journaling, and to edit their photos. Traditional scrapping is done with paper, scissors and adhesives.

A couple of years ago Digital Scrappers came into the scrapbooking world! There are a huge amount of strictly digital scrappers. Digital scrapbookers create all of their layouts on the computer without ever having collected the traditional scrapbook supplies. Digital Scrappers use a graphics or photo editing software to design their pages. No scissors, paper and glue for the digital scrappers. There are tremendous amounts of digital scrapbooking kits, etc that you can purchase online to use on your digital layouts. One of the benefits of digital scrapping is that it doesnt create the mess that traditional scrapping creates! Digital scrapping can also be cheaper because you do not have to purchase all of the traditional scrapbooking supplies- paper, adhesives, tools, etc. With digital scrapping you do not have to have your photos printed. You can use the photos directly from your camera and uploaded to your computer!

From this mix of both digital and traditional scrappers we have seen a brand new breed of scrapper emerge, the hybrid scrapper! The hybrid scrappers combines traditional and digital scrapbooking methods. While digital scrapping may never replace traditional handcrafted scrapping entirely, digital applications can provide a wonderful complement to all types of crafting. Hybrid scrappers will collect both traditional and digital supplies! Creating a digital layout, printing it out and then adding handcrafted embellishments is one of the most popular hybrid scrapping techniques. Hybrid scrapping is growing in popularity and is a perfect mix for those scrappers who enjoy both the digital and traditional scrapping experience!
