Busy Day Streusel Pear Pie Recipe

Bisquick® biscuit mix has been around since the 1930’s, and busy cooks everywhere have been making shortcut dishes of all kinds with it since then. Somewhere around the late 70’s, someone came up with what was called “Impossible Pie,” which was a pie containing Bisquick® that formed it’s own crust. Over the years, new recipes using the same method have been developed, allowing cooks everywhere to make pies, both sweet and savory, quickly without having to roll out a crust. Homemade Master Baking Mixes are fresher, cheaper, and more nutritious than commercial versions of biscuit mix, and they can be made with organic ingredients; these mixes can be used interchangeably with most recipes calling for commercial biscuit mix.

Busy Day Streusel Pear Pie is a delicious version of an impossible pie; it’s very possible, though, to be made by a busy cook on a busy day. It can be put together in a matter of minutes using Master Baking Mix and also Basic Oatmeal Cookie Mix which forms the crunchy streusel topping. Even though this pie is quick and easy, it’s attractive and definitely suitable for company. If there are ripe pears waiting to be used, this pie will show off those pears to advantage.

8 Servings

1/2 cup Master Baking Mix
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons softened butter
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

3 to 4 ripe pears, pared, cored, and sliced
