...or do I mean NOs? Truly the engagement threw me for a loop. I mean seriously, Ava, that's your sister's ex-husband, which would make him still like your brother-in-law...and isn't incest illegal? That aside, Lily is still very much in love with Jonathan whether she admits it or not. Lily repeatedly says she's too different from Jonathan and that is why the relationship was annulled. I don't believe, and I may have had too much ambient noise to catch it, that she ever once denied being in love with Jonathan. That is because we know that she can not deny it.
Lily is a complicated person, and her complexities make her one of my favorites. While I feel Ava is sincere in professing that her love for sister was exponentially greater than her love for Jonathan, a love that she is not so sure exists, she continues to ponder marrying him. It's typical Ava, but so disappointing. As a sister, it is incomprehensible to me that she would wager her relationship with flesh and blood over a man that she is unsure that she is in love with.
Which brings me to Jonathan. What are his true intentions in marrying Ava? Is it to control her? Is it because she shares a remarkable resemblance to one ex-wife that prematurely ended her marriage? Does he have some twisted desire to be close to Lily by being part of her family even if he can't be with her? I am not entirely convinced his love for Ava is pure.
That was a duh comment there, I know. We have all figured out his motives aren't entirely above board. This doesn't bother me as much as Ava's intentions. She is too selfish and her association with JR is doomed for failure. JR sees Ava as a cash cow, and is using her (financially and ideally for other less honorable things I am forced to believe). Ava just wants to be rich and famous, not dependent on a man to meet her every need.
OK, Ms. Philosophical, why then are you wearing the ring of a man who is quite wealthy but you don't love?
I know, that comment was quite snarky. I apologize for that. However, if these two do marry I am inclined to agree with Amanda. It will certainly end in disaster.
