The Internet has been the home of many flighty notions and promises. It has also opened our world to many possibilities (hello online shopping). There are numerous sources that claim to be the next fashion magazine of the future but none have come close to wetting the appetite of would-be curvy fashionistas with quality material, layouts, plus size models and inspiration. That at least was until January 2007.
Skorch Magazine, a trendy online fashion magazine (or if you prefer e-zine), was the brain child of aspiring entrepreneurs Jessica Kane and Carrie Woomer. From a base camp in Vancouver, Washington these young women are bringing plus size women around the world quality fashion layouts, using real plus size models, that depict the majority of the shopping population instead of the minority.
Like popular print magazines Skorch provides a monthly dose of beauty advice, visually stunning fashion layouts, news and everything else you would find in a skinny girl magazine except with a curvy girl attitude. And curvy girls are eating it up, globally.
I have to admit I was slow to warm up to this magazine. I had my doubts about yet another person offering to bring a fashion magazine to my curvy comrades. And honestly, I didn't want to get attached. I really didn't think Skorch would hang around, websites on the internet die every day, but after eight fabulous issues they are holding strong and getting bigger and better every month.
Jessica and Carrie participated in an interview with a Katu Television where they talked about their magazine and plus size fashion in the world today. They spice things up by providing before and after fashion makeovers. Click on image below to watch:
How do you know when a new issue is ready for viewing? That's easy, you subscribe by email and you'll get an email notice when the new fashion binge is read to begin.
