When Snow White was released in film in the early 1900s the hourglass frame was the acceptable choice. The story of Snow White was based on a time of knights and princes. They wanted their women healthy and a full figure represented health. The female body during this time was mostly hidden under garments except in the case of the film where we see her luscious white arms, chest and dainty ankles.
