Plus Size Snow White Costume

The story of the genteel beautiful princess was popularized by the Brothers Grimm and her image was popularized by Walt Disney. Snow White is the embodiment of everything kind and pure which makes the idea of using her as a caricature for a Halloween costume a bit of an oxymoron.

None-the-less she is a popular choice. And there is absolutely no reason why a plus size woman can not play the snow white princess. By today's standards she was probably plus size anyway.

Snow White was created in the early 1800s during a time when the healthy ideal woman was curvy, notice I said ideal, not the average peasant girl. When Snow White was released in film in the early 1900s the hourglass frame was the acceptable choice.

The story of Snow White was based on a time of knights and princes. They wanted their women healthy and a full figure represented health. The female body during this time was mostly hidden under garments except in the case of the film where we see her luscious white arms, chest and dainty ankles.

Snow White will be forever beautiful no matter what her size. If you feel the urge to be a princess then there are Plus Size Snow White costumes available in demure, sexy and a little bit devilish styles. Buy Costumes has a Snow White Deluxe Plus Adult Costume (32179) with a lovely floor gown in sizes 1x to 2x. They also have a short and sassy version, Fairy Tale Snow White Adult Plus Costume (shown at left), that is quite affordable. Costume Craze has the same two costumes (both companies alternate on best price for each item) as well as two additional Snow White costumes, the one pictured at right goes to 3x while the other is short and full size.
