Christmas cookies and cakes... it's that time of year. Don't you just love it when your home smells of baked goods and everyone is amazed at your culinary abilities?
I was so tired of using a hand held mixer, especially during the holidays. I usually burnt up one each season. Several years ago, I suggested that Santa should be a dear... and put a Cobalt Blue Kitchen Aid Mixer under the tree.
Being that Santa loves all the baked goodies I provide... he was a good little dooby and I found the Goddess of Mixers all wrapped up on Christmas morning.
I didn't ask for the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer... I really don't need a meat grinder. But, the Artisan Mixer has a larger capacity bowl which is really nice. Double batch cookie recipes are easy to handle in this bad boy.
I also did a lot of pizza and other rustic flat breads that I didn't want to mix in the bread maker... so the KitchenAid came to the rescue. I keep it on the counter all the time... I think it's a fashion statement. Anyway, it's handy to just plop all the ingredients into a bowl and hit the switch.
This mixer is easy to keep clean. I used to get all kinds of mystery blobs on my old handheld mixers, but this mixer seems to be able to avoid all that mess.
My mother had an old... I mean old, KitchenAid mixer and we all loved it for baking. I wonder why it took me so long to get mine?
