Use deli roast beef and sliced Mozzarella cheese in these tasty, Italian-style, open-faced beef sandwiches. They're perfect for parties! This recipe makes 8 open face sandwiches.
- 1 pound deli roast beef, sliced about 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch thick
- 1 T. olive oil
- 1 large onion, peeled and sliced thin
- 2 cups prepared spaghetti sauce
- 4 long sandwich buns, hoagie style
- 8 slices, about 1 oz. each, Mozzarella Cheese
Preparation -
Cut the deli roast beef slices into into thin strips, about 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch thick; set aside. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet and saute the sliced onions until they are barely tender. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or to a low boil, stirring occasionally. Add the roast beef strips and cook until heated through. Slice the sandwich buns lengthwise. Arrange the bun halves on an ungreased baking sheet with the cut side up. Spoon the beef and onion on the rolls, dividing the mixture evenly. Place a slice of Mozzarella Cheese on top of each. Place in an oven/broiler. Broil, just until the cheese is melted.
