Just Desserts

Hello, and welcome back! We're getting another early taste of spring today, though I think the weather will be a little more seasonable again in the next couple days. I don't think I'm going to get my snowstorm this year after all.

This time out, I have a great new March release to share with you. Just Desserts (Jove) by Barbara Bretton has Hayley Maitland Goldstein making her own way in life, her cake decorating business beginning to take off nicely, her teenage daughter doing well in school and helping out with the business. When Finn Rafferty shows up on her doorstep with a request to make a cake for rock star Tommy Stiles, she smells a rat. But she can't quite figure out what might really be going on, and Finn is a hunk of the first order. Finn wants to tell her why he's really there--Tommy thinks she's his long-lost, and previously unknown, daughter--but he can't; his loyalty lies with Tommy. But he can't do anything to stop the attraction he feels for Hayley, nor the way she feels about him in return. And before he knows it, things are way out of his control. He wants to tell Hayley the truth, but the timing is never right. And then it's out of his hands. Hayley is a fantastic heroine, strong, but not a bitch, realistic about her skills and place in the world, and a survivor. Finn is a great hero, too, conflicted and honorable, and very, very sexy. It doesn't get much better than this. Except it does. We have the charismatic Tommy and his entourage of extended family, and Hayley's daughter Lizzie is a perfect teenager, a good girl, but with her own conflicts and issues that come with her age and her past. This one is terrific. I always look forward to reading Ms. Bretton's new romances, and this one was well worth the wait. A definite keeper, it's earned four of Cupid's five arrows, and I can hardly wait for her next book. I hope it's not a very long wait.

Until next time, happy reading!
