Future Business Owners (Ages 4 - 8)

Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella met a Prince Charming. Sleeping Beauty slept, missing the beautiful world, until her Prince came. A Penniless Cinderella suffered abuse and harsh chores until the arrival of her Prince. Today’s young women have choices to escape these dilemmas. They can become a small business owner and enjoy life before his arrival.

Daphne A. Nowell opens young girls’ eyes to this wonderful opportunity in Juana Meets Gabriel the Small-Business Angel. The picture book exposes young girls (ages 4-8) on how to become future business owners. Most authors write books on this subject for older girls. This early introduction allows girls (and boys) to begin thought and preparation while in preschool and kindergarten.

Juana Meets Gabriel the Small-Business Angel introduces Juana to the steps necessary to becoming a successful business owner. Daphne A. Nowell writes the book’s format like the typical picture book. The print is large for easy reading. Esther Nowell’s bright, colorful pictures adorn the glossy twenty-two pages

Yet, this non-stereotype fairy tale has our spunky hero achieving her dreams. Gabriel the Small-Business Angel guides Juana through the steps to make her a business owner. They start with her dream to own a business. He guides her through deciding the type of business, preparing herself for success and finding funds to open the business. Daphne A. Nowell uses age appropriate terms, so young children can understand the processes.

After reading this book, I wonder how long Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty stayed with their Princes, especially Sleeping Beauty. Conversations with a person who does not know anything that has happened in the past hundred years can be very boring. It shows preparation goes a long way.

Tyler and his Solve-a-matic Machine introduces middle readers (ages 8-12) to the world of business. The fantasy, adventure book makes learning business practices fun.
