Gift Basket Book Review

With Mother’s Day coming soon, this is an excellent time to begin putting aside items for a gift basket for your mom. Now there’s a book that will help you create that one-of-a-kind gift for Mother’s Day and other holidays. The Globe Pequot Press has released the second edition of its best selling title, “The Gift Basket Design Book” by Shirley George Frazier. This will be especially helpful in creating gift baskets for gardeners.

This soft cover guide is invaluable in helping you create professional looking gifts you’ll be proud to present to loved ones.

In the first section, the author provides complete, color illustrated, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions for all the techniques you need to know. These include everything from selecting and using a filler to the placement of the gift items in the container and wrapping it.

One section deals with appropriate projects for every kind of occasion and event you can imagine, including holidays. This also has suggested themes for
gift baskets as well.

This title will be useful to gardeners throughout the year any time there is a need to give a gift.

For those occasions when a regular basket won’t do, the author has several chapters on how to use other types of containers. There is also a very helpful chapter on trouble shooting when things go wrong.

There are so many gorgeous projects, and ideas in this title. Many of these will appeal to gardeners. One section shows photos of baskets by leading designers. Among the projects is one that uses a coiled hose as the gift container. This would be a perfect idea for a birthday gift for a gardener.

There are other examples suitable for gardeners as well. These include a cup shaped basket that would be perfect for gift plants. Another uses a beautiful frosted mug, which would also make a great container for miniature plants.

This guide to gift baskets has a special Mother’s Day gift. It is presented in a lovely, miniature, wooden wheelbarrow. Imagine filling this with gardening tools and supplies. Gifts don’t come any better than this.

Other suggested containers include flower and fruit decorated boxes and totes, which could also work well for gardening gifts.
