CBS Daytime Emmy Nomination Picks-Part I

Over the next few weeks, I will share my thoughts on which Actors/Actresses I would like to see nominated. I have many favorites who I hope will win. There are a few characters that really stood out last year:

Outstanding Supporting Actress

Judith Chapman (Gloria Fisher Abbott Bardwell Bardwell)
The Young & the Restless

Love or hate her, Gloria had one amazing year. Whatever has happened, Gloria lets nothing get her down in the face of adversity. In 2007 Gloria lost her second husband, and while still trying to avoid jail time, married her late husband’s brother out of a blackmail situation. This woman does not have any issues with extremes; she went so far as to slowly poison herself to set up Jeffrey Bardwell. I think Gloria met her match when Jeffrey came onto the scene. Jeffrey is slick, cunning and just as manipulative as she is. Gloria is resourceful and confident no matter what is thrown at her. She is such a joy to watch, especially when she is being bad!

Most Irresistible Combination

Jennifer Landon (Gwen Munson) & Jesse Soffer (Will Munson)
As the World Turns

I was elated when Jennifer Landon won the Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Actress last year. Her portrayal of Gwen is awesome to watch. She has quickly become one of my favorites. When I think of Gwen, I can’t help but think about Will. They are a couple that has risen above all odds - affairs, loss of a child, and the adoption scandal. Now they are facing yet another test - Barbara’s cancer diagnosis. Barbara has been like a mother to Gwen, considering Gwen’s relationship with her own mother. Because the Carly/Jack storyline has worn thin for me, Gwen & Will made 2007 an exciting year for As the World Turns.

Outstanding Supporting Actor

Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher)
The Young & the Restless

Kevin has truly come full circle. When we first saw Kevin, he was an Internet predator. He met Lily online and slowly started stalking her. For years, Lily and Colleen despised Kevin for the torment he put them through. Over the years, Kevin faced his bad side, and with the help of Michael & Lauren, rehabilitated himself into a decent person. This past year was a busy one for Kevin. He was almost killed by Jana, he received Lily and Colleen’s forgiveness, and he also grew closer to his family. Kevin has one more obstacle to overcome – learn how to say “no” to his mother!

These are a few on my wish list. Who are your favorites to win?
