Get Your HD DVD Rebate!

I suppose some people remember the big battle long ago between VHS VCR tapes, and a format called Beta-Max. As most people observed, VHS won, only to be replaced by DVDs. Now there has been a battle between a format of DVD recording called Blue-Ray and one called HD DVD. Blue-Ray won. The HD DVD players will not play Blue-Ray formats. You will need to buy a new player eventually -- if you want to play the new snazzy Blue-Ray disks. To take the sting out of this, several big name companies are offering rebates if you purchased a HD Player from them in certain date parameters. (Note: no I do not own one, but we have friends who do.)

Each company has its own rules. I've listed the companies that are giving the rebates which are usually around $50 dollars American currency.

Best Buy:
They are offering a $50 dollar Rebates and additional trade-in offers.

For the Rebate go to:
call (888) BEST-BUY or your local store

For the Trade-In information got to:
https://www.bestbuytradein.com/bb/

AMAZON.com
Amazon is also offering a $50 Rebate. They say they have sent emails to all people who bought hD-DVD players in a certain time frame. However, if you think they didn't reach you please contact them at the customer service link:

GO to:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/returns-and-refunds.html

Circuit City.com
Is Offering Rebate.

Go to:
Call The Main Circuit City Number
1-800-843-2489

or call your local store

Walmart
There have been different reports on this. The best course appears to be the call your local Walmart and Ask for information. They will need the unit, and proof of purchase.

The Main Walmart Customer Service Site is:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=542416

Or call your local store for information.

As Any other store decide to rebate on these items, I'll post them here and add to the list.

I feel bad that this is how it worked out for you, but these units will able to play low definition DVD and the HD DVD units you already own. Actually, many of the HD-DVD unit are going to be sold off at bargain basement prices -- so watch for prices. You could extensively add to your DVD collection at very low prices.
