Let's continue working on our 002_digitalPlannerTemplateKit (see screenshot).

Unequal Columns (see screenshot)

Our second two column layout has a thin column for holding small items, such as the days of the week and a wider column for larger items such as text boxes or to do lists. In this layout, the small column will be 88 pixels wide and the wider column will have 368 pixels. This time we will have an 8 pixel gutter between the columns.

1. In the Layers panel, duplicate the Equal Columns Layout group layer. Rename the duplicate group Unequal Columns Layout - 8 px apart.


2. Open the Unequal Columns group and select the duplicate Column 1. Set the column to 88 pixels wide and 648 pixels tall. Set the X value to 72 pixels and the Y value to 72 pixels.


3. Rename the new column to Column 1 - 88 wide (see screenshot).


4. Next, select the duplicate Column 2. Set the Width to 368 and the Height to 648. Set the X value set to 168 and the Y value set to 72.


5. Rename the column to Column 2 - 368 wide (see screenshot).

threeColumnLayout

For the threeColumnLayout, we will create three equal columns that are 144 pixels wide and 648 pixels tall. They will have a 16 pixel gutter between them.

1. Select the threeColumnLayout artboard, go to the Layers panel and duplicate the Page Content layer and rename it Column 1 - 144 wide.


2. In the Transform panel, set the Width to 144 pixels and the Height 648 pixels. Set the X value to 72 and the Y value to 72, to position the column.


3. Duplicate the Column 1 layer and rename it Column 2 - 144 wide. Set the X value to 232 and Y to 72.


4. Duplicate the Column 2 layer and rename it Column 3 - 144 wide. Set the X value to 392 and Y to 72.


5. Select all three column layers and group them. Rename the group layer to Equal Columns - 16 px apart (see screenshot).

manuscriptLayout

The manuscriptLayout has only one column which is surrounded by a 72 pixel margin. That's exactly the same as the baseDocument. So we don't have any adjustments to make for the manuscriptLayout.
