We live in a very hectic time with expectations from everyone around us including work, family and friends along with pressures we put on ourselves. We have to make sure that we take time to rest our body and mind by setting aside time to rejuvenate our body and renew our spirit.
Even God took time out!
“On the sixth day God completed all the work that He had done, and on the seventh day God rested from all the work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all the work of creation.” Genesis 2:2, 3 (Common English Bible)
Sometimes when we feel that we are surrounded with problems and we don’t know what to do, we have to rest and rely on God to work it out and give us understanding as only He can. If it is a financial problem, working more and more hours and forgetting about family and friends is not the long term answer.
“…We labor and have no rest.” Lamentations 5:5 (New King James Version)
Even wealthy people have problems. So as you can see money does not solve every problem or meet every need. It is amazing how many rich and even famous people commit suicide or self-medicate to find peace enough to rest. We have to trust and lean on God for He can provide peace to our spirit that enables us to sleep. As we continue to bolster our faith in God it becomes easier to rely on Him.
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret…” Psalm 37:7 (New King James Version)
Are you having a hard time sleeping at night? Are you tossing and turning trying to figure out which way to go or too wound up in stress that you cannot sleep? If so, pull out your Bible for in it you can find scriptures to cling to that will help you find strength and peace in a storm that will allow you to calm your soul and renew your spirit daily.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest….” Matthew 11: 28 (New International Version)
No one can go without sleep for long before it manifests into other health related issues which will only add to your problems. Remember, the prescription for the rest you need is freely given in the Word of God. Commit a few scriptures into memory that you can readily call upon to remind yourself of God’s promises and His love, to quiet your spirit and allow you to rest in His perfect peace.
