In the meantime, this time out, I have Sarah McCarty's Running Wild (Berkley Heat), a trio of stories centered around the Delaney sisters and their respective werewolf mates. First up is Lisa, bent on getting revenge for what a local has done to her sister Robin. But the would-be rapist has friends who're willing to fight dirty. Donovan is a Protector for his pack, sent to retrieve the next Alpha, Wyatt, who's been policing the small town where Lisa and her sister have settled. But Donovan isn't willing to let the men hurt her, not now that he's found his mate. Then Donovan's brother Kelon comes to help protect the women, and he discovers that Robin is his mate. But Wyatt needs their help with the pack, who're not taking his authority well. And the third Delaney sister Heather arrives with them, not very happy about being forced to come here, and firm in her belief that the folks who believe they're werewolves are nuts. Then she and Wyatt hook up, and she's not very happy about his life or death situation. While I like a good Alpha male, these guys are a tad over the top. Lisa is strong, but Donovan insists on taking care of her, no matter what. A little annoying to me. Robin needs protecting, and Kelon comes on strong. Oh, and the guys aren't supposed to be hooking up with human women, especially not Wyatt, as the future Alpha of his pack. Even Wyatt's story annoyed me, because after all the talk about his only two choices, suddenly, he's saved from either. I wanted to like these stories much more than I did. Perhaps I should have waited to read them, since I just finished When He Was Bad and liked it so much, left a little time between shifter stories. Or maybe the same things that annoyed me in this one now would still have annoyed me in another week or two. In any case, this one gets only two of Cupid's five arrows. Definitely not a keeper.
Until next time, happy reading!
