Karen Rose Smith is Back!

Hello, and welcome back! I've resigned myself to summer's arrival here, and am just hoping for some breaks in the hot and sticky weather where the temps are more tolerable. Fortunately, I have plenty of new July books on the corner of my desk to keep me busy inside where it's cooler, and I've already dug into a few of them.

This time out, however, I have the last of our June romances: Karen Rose Smith's The Daddy Plan (Silhouette Special Edition). Corrie Edwards has always wanted a baby, and she's come up with the perfect solution: ask her boss and friend vet Sam Barclay to donate to the cause, no strings attached. Sam is stunned by her request, and a little bit intrigued, because they shared a kiss once, a long time ago. But Corrie doesn't want more than a sperm donor, just a baby of her own. Her family did little to make her believe in lasting love or trust, and she believes it's just simpler this way, despite her own attraction to Sam. Once they're agreed, it's just a matter of a visit or two the doctor, right? Not quite. Sam wants a family, and even though Corrie doesn't want a daddy along with her baby, she's going to get one. His own recent past with a former girlfriend has showed him just how much he wants to be involved with any baby he fathers, whether it's by conventional means or not. But the attraction they share only deepens, the further they get along this path, complicating things just a teeny bit. Then the ex-girlfriend comes back to town, adding another wrench to the proceedings. And they're successful in the quest to get pregnant, but who knows exactly how it occurred? Plus Corrie gets an opportunity she never expected, one that might be the final straw in their budding relationship. This one is quite emotional, particularly toward the end of the story, and has characters who share our everyday worries, people we might meet or even know already in our own lives. If you're looking for a good, grabbing read, pick this one up. Have a tissue or two handy, and enjoy! This one's earned three and a half of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
