Miss Platnum is the alter ego of twenty-seven year old singer, songwriter and musician Ruth Renner who is Romanian born but immigrated to Germany in 1989. She insists her native land is still an important part of who she is as a person and as an artist. Music has always been in her blood from her days in the church choir to the school musicals that followed. Her love of music was cemented during her apprenticeship with R & B marvel Jocelyn B. Smith. The world of music harbors its negative charms no matter what country you are in and after a short stint off the beaten path she returned to music as a back up singer for German bands like Moabeat and Cultured Pearls. This experience led her to form her own band Platnum, which later morphed into the mighty Miss Platnum.
Miss Platnum / RuthRenner's voice is versatile and the woman behind the character doesn't want to lock herself into one category of music. Her versatility allows her to experiment with traditional Balkan folk, rhythm and blues, jazz ballads, soul, hip hop, rap and pop. It is great to see another curvy lead in the music industry. There are not a lot of role models out there that challenge the cookie cutter impressions left on young and mature listeners as well as those who dream of entering the world of music. Miss Platnum has the curves, she has the attitude and she has the voice. Her latest hit singles Come Marry Me (with Pete Fox) and Mercedes Benz are making the rounds and are just as catchy and entertaining as the first. Her music can be downloaded in MP3 format from Amazon or iTunes.
