Guide to Essential Oils for Skin and Hair Care

Typically when you think of essential oils, you think of how they are used to relax your mood and state of being. While this is one of their many uses, they play a big role in the beauty industry. Not only do you find them in shampoo and conditioners, they’ve taken their shelf space in the body scrub, oil and lotion sector, not to mention facial treatments such as serums and masque.

In this article you’ll find a list of essential oils that are being used in the beauty industry for skin, hair and body car.

You'd probably like to see a few recipes, however, this article will only mention the essential oils. This allows you to do research on your own and familiarize yourself with the benefits of using the oils for each category mentioned. You can then create your own blends based on what you find as you study how to use and work with them.

The suggested essential oils are readily available online and at health food stores. Essential oils are not for consumption and must always be diluted in a carrier (such as Sweet Almond oil, Jojoba oil, etc. also available at health food stores) before use. Add 2 to 6 drops of essential oil (depending on the oil) to approximately 1/8 cup (4 ounces) of carrier oil. Mix gently. It’s best to put your essential oils into a brown bottle, allow them to “marry” and then add your carrier oil to your blend. Keep tightly covered and use as required, preferably at bedtime. Keep out of direct light.
