Cordon Bleu Waxbill Finches originate in Africa and are one of a fairly large group of waxbills. Two Cordon Bleu Finches are fairly common in the pet trade - the Red-cheeked Cordon Bleu and the Blue-capped Cordon Bleu. This picture is of a Blue-capped Cordon Bleu.
To see a picture that is not as clear, but shows one of these little birds in the wild in Africa, you can see my article on Africam. It was pretty exciting the day this little finch came to the waterhole.
These are quiet little birds that get along fine in a mixed aviary with similar sized and temperment finches. They add colour (and I really love the shade of blue) and movement to a peaceful aviary.
It would be great if some finch owners would join the forum to talk about and post pictures of your birds.
