Hello, and welcome back! We're getting a (very) short break in the miserably hot weather here, just long enough to mosey around the local farm market for fresh veggies and fruit, before we have to crank up the a/c again. I took a day off to head to Maryland and a Nora Roberts booksigning, which is always a lot of fun. People come from all over to be at her signings, and you never know who you'll be standing beside in line. Frankly, I find booksignings period to be a lot of fun. Authors are an interesting group of people, and generally very nice. I hope if you have the chance to attend one in your area, you'll do it, even if it's not an author you're very familiar with when you go.

This time out, I have Rescue Me (St. Martin's) with stories from Cherry Adair, Cindy Gerard, and Lora Leigh. Adair's 'Tropical Heat' has Dr. Elizabeth Goodall snatched away from the medical conference she's attending in South Africa by a terrorist who wants a new face--and has mistaken her for another doctor. Luckily, Sam Pelton's on the case, and come to rescue her from the criminals in the jungle. 'Atlanta Heat' from Leigh continues her SEAL series, this time with Macey March, who's been lusting after the admiral's goddaughter Emerson Delaney, and when she's kidnapped, Macey's got to bring back his woman. Gerard's 'Desert Heat' sends ADA Elena Martinez off into the Grand Canyon on a charity scavenger hunt-type hike with sexy detective Seth King, and a man bent on revenge has come along for the ride, so Seth has to keep Elena safe. My favorite in this one is the Adair. Beth and Sam's chemistry is sultry enough to compete with the jungle setting, though I did wish for more story time here. My next favorite is Gerard's. I'm not a big Gerard fan, at least not of her last series, but this story was quite good, with a hero determined to keep his love safe, and a heroine equal to the task herself. I'm not a Leigh fan, but this one has a hero not nearly as overbearing as most of hers, though I still wouldn't say I loved this one, but I didn't want to toss it across the room. As a whole, this collection has earned three and a half of Cupid's five arrows; it's a keeper for me for the Adair story for sure.
