Acrobat Pro 9 - New Portfolio How To

To add an image, just click on the placeholder box to open the controls. Once you add the image, you can resize and reposition it on the Welcome screen. Using the image controls, you can also scale the image, change its opacity and set the surrounding background color.

Now, we will add some text. As we click on the empty placeholder text box, we get the controls for formatting the text including size, color, alignment and style. We can also resize and reposition the text box anywhere on the Welcome page including overlapping the graphic.

4. Next, go back to the workspace and click on the Header button to work on the header for your portfolio. Our list of options for the header include simple text, structured text, logo and text, logo and structured text, text and background image and image only. As before, as we make our choice, we get placeholder boxes and formatting controls. This header will appear at the top of the Welcome page and navigation menu layout.

5. Now that we have all the elements of our portfolio in place, we need to work on the color scheme. When you click on the Select a Color Scheme button, we have several predesigned color schemes that we can use but none of them look very good with my graphic. I need to use the color picker to build my own color scheme. After clicking on the Customize Color Scheme button, I can set a color for the following.

Primary Text
Secondary Text
Primary Card Color
Secondary Card Color
Background

6. Working on the graphic and text layout gives us a good visual idea of how the portfolio will look when finished. But, itís a good idea to use the table view to make sure that we havenít missed any details. When you click on the Specify File Details button, the table view shows the name of the file and the descriptions. If you compare the Size and Compressed Size columns, you will see how much smaller the individual files will be when compressed into the PDF Portfolio.

We can use these columns to sort the files by name, description, date modified, size, compressed size and date created. You can also create your own columns. One reason to create a new column is to change the order in which the files appear in the menu. By default, they will appear in the order in which you added them to the portfolio. In order to override this, you can create a new column and give a number to each file. Then use the Initial Sort menu to make this column the control column.

Finally, we are ready to save and/or publish the portfolio. Click on the Publish button for our options. When we click the Email button, an email message window opens with the portfolio as an attachment. Another option is to upload the portfolio to Acrobat.com for file sharing and group meetings.
