Sea Fever

Hello, and welcome back! I hope you're all finding plenty of reading time with all the usual summer activities. And something good to read on the beach. I'll be packing a few books in my bag to take along to the beach next week myself, though I'm a little sorry I didn't save this one to enjoy at the water's edge.

Virginia Kantra continues her 'Children of the Sea' series this month with Sea Fever (Berkley). This time out, Dylan Hunter, the selkie brother of Cal in Sea Witch last month, has a very hot encounter the night of his brother's wedding. With Regina Barone, the caterer of the wedding reception who's harbored a secret crush on Cal for a long time. But Regina and Dylan may have set off more than they bargained for with their steamy summer night together. The same demons who wreaked havoc during Cal and Maggie's courtship are still around, and this time, there's a prophecy relating to Cal and Dylan's mother and a powerful future generation that the demons are trying very hard to prevent. Regina doesn't expect that Dylan will stick around, but he can't seem to leave. And now, when he feels he's put her in danger, he takes on the responsibility of keeping her and her son safe. Only his best efforts to keep the demons away might not be quite enough. And it turns out, Dylan wants more from Regina than to be her protector. But he made his choice between human and selkie many years ago, so her world isn't his. But he might just change his mind to stay with Regina and her son Nick. This one is plenty hot. Regina is a very likable heroine, with her head on straight, so imagine her shock when she discovers just what Dylan is. And Dylan is a fantastic, brooding hero who'll do anything to protect his own. Of course, the battle with the demons isn't over yet; we still have sister Lucy and Conn ap Llyr, prince of Dylan's world, to look forward to. But I was a little bit sorry to see the end of Dylan and Regina's story. Yes, it's a keeper, but I think I may pack it for a reread at the beach next week. This one's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
