Eve Silver has His Wicked Sins (Zebra) out this month, returning to where she started, with Gothic historical romance. Elizabeth Canham has taken a position as a teacher in the remote Burndale School in Yorkshire so she can help support her family and ailing father. But as she arrives, she learns of recent deaths in the area, including two women from the school. She also meets Griffin Fairfax, the very handsome and very mysterious father of Isobel, one of her pupils. Beth can't seem to keep away from the mysteries of the deaths, can't help wondering who might be involved, and all evidence seems to point toward Griffin. That doesn't stop her from being attracted to him, despite his guilty demeanor, despite his own claims of being involved in things she'd do best to forget. But someone is after Beth, and not quite in the same way Griffin appears to be. I've been a fan of Ms. Silver since her first book, and I can't tell you how excited I was about this story. Not very many authors can pull off a great Gothic romance these days, except for Eve Silver. The danger and tension in this tangle together until you can feel Beth's fear in yourself, even though you know in your heart that Griffin is the good guy, the hero. For those readers longing for someone to step into the void left behind by Victoria Holt, pick this book up. Pick up her other historicals as well, and you won't be disappointed. This one has earned four of Cupid's five arrows. I'm looking forward to her next book in December, though it's not a Gothic, but a paranormal. It's also already on my desk, and I'm trying very hard not to read it quite yet.
Until next time, happy reading!
