While the Branson area of Missouri offers load of budget-friendly accommodations for visiting families, two upscale resorts offer different types of experiences for honeymooners
Chateau on the Lake
At this "castle of the Ozarks," on a mountaintop overlooking pretty Table Rock Lake, consider staying in one of the suites, with private bedroom, sitting area, microwave and refrigerators. Or go even bigger with a stay in one of the Vice Presidential Suites (864 square feet) with private living and sleeping areas separated by French doors. And the ultra-luxe accommodations: Presidential Suites with 1,000 square feet; special amenities include a two-person Jacuzzi shower and rain showerhead.
The Chateau on the Lake is a AAA four-diamond property with spacious grounds, an award-winning fine dining restaurant and a 14,000-square foot full-service spa. Even your fiance will appreciate the Barber Spa with men's haircuts and shaves with hot towels. For fun, enjoy all sorts of water sports from the Chateau Marina, seasonal outdoor pool and nearby nature trail.
Big Cedar Lodge
This resort, owned by the same people who own Bass Pro Shops, offers honeymooning couples more of a lodge-style experience in the woods -- although, like the Chateau on the Lake, it's known for its upscale service. Stay in private log cabins or "Knotty Pine Cottages" for the ultimate privacy. Many are nestled in the woods, while others are by the lake and near the main lodge amenities. Fireplaces and Jacuzzi baths set the scene for romance.
The Top of the Rock Golf Course, a Nicklaus-designed course, is just a short drive from the main entrance of the resort. Two spa locations make it convenient for guests to enjoy a massage, facial, body wrap or nail treatment.
Whether you like country, rock, Broadway show tunes or gospel, you can find a live performance of your favorite music genre somewhere in the "live entertainment capital of the world." Branson boasts dozens of theaters that also feature magicians and comedians.
Summer is probably the best time to vacation in Branson, so you can enjoy the outdoors in the warm weather. Pretend you're a kid again on the mini golf course, in the bumper cars or at the waterparks. Or get back to nature fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking or horseback riding in the hills, forest and lakes in the Branson area.
