This time out, I have the latest from Roxanne St. Claire, Now You Die (Pocket Star). This one continues her Bullet Catchers series, and rounds out the trilogy she's done within that series. Jack Culver used to be a Bullet Catcher, not to mention his one and only night with the boss, Lucy Sharpe. Now they've got to find a way to work together to find out who the murderer really was all those years ago when Eileen Stafford was wrongly convicted. They've found two of her three daughters, but now the third appears to be dead. Jack is still determined to find the real killer and get Eileen free, but Lucy isn't convinced his main suspect is the right man. She's even more unconvinced when someone tries to kill the Supreme Court justice who happens to be Jack's suspect, but they wrangle a way to get closer to the judge to find out exactly what happened all those years ago. Then there's the heat that still shimmers between Jack and Lucy when they're together, along with the secrets that Lucy's kept for even longer than she's had Bullet Catchers, Inc. Toss in a killer determined to keep the secret, a woman who may not be dead after all, and you've got a pretty good mix. I'm not a St. Claire fan, but I did enjoy this one far more than any of its predecessors. The chemistry between Jack and Lucy is appealing, and the tone of their story not so flippant as some of the previous characters. I won't say it's a keeper for me, simply based on my previous reading, but I did like this one quite a lot. It's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
