One of the things that prevent people from trying scarves is not knowing how to wear them. Here are five ways I like to accessorise with scarves.
The simplest way to wear a long scarf is dangling from both sides of the neck slightly tucked under the collar of a jacket. You can tie a knot at the end or not. If you are just wearing a collared shirt you can tie the scarf into a lose square like below.
A large square scarf halved, tied in the front and draped down the back adds pizazz to a mock or turtle neck top. A few scarves can effectively transform a solid top into multiple looks.
Fold a long scarf in half over neck and draw the two ends through the loop created. Don't pull to tight. Let hang down chest or off to side slightly. This technique is also great for long winter scarves. For an additional look you can separate the two ends and bring them to the back and knot again.
Neatly fold a bandanna size scarf into a narrow neat strip. Wrap it around your neck and tie it into a loose knot at neck. Position off to side.
One of my favorite ways to show off a lovely scarf is to slip it through the loops of my denims like shown below.
There are so many ways to use your favorite scarves as a fashion accessory. Wrap it in your hair, around your wrist, or if you find a large enough one use it as a wrap skirt. Use your imagination.
