Creating a ladylike look requires a few simple changes in your styling procedure.
After your hair is cleansed and conditioned, towel blot and apply firm hold but flexible styling foam. Blow-dry your hair without brushing it straight. When your hair is thoroughly dry try one of these methods to create curls.
- Grab a large section of hair and wind it around a curling iron. Release it gently; take another section and curl it in a similar manner. Continue until all of your hair is curled. Loosen the curls with your fingers and arrange it into your chosen style. You may want to use a comb on the top or on the fringe for a smooth finish. To get rid of fly away strands, place a small amount of hair crème or pomade in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together to distribute a thin layer of the product over your finger tips. Lightly run your fingers through your hair and arrange the waves and curls into your chosen style.
- After drying your hair, set it with hot rollers. Use few rollers – six or eight - and set them ‘off-base’ so that you avoid getting too much fullness. Off-base means that the rollers hang or dangle instead of sitting firmly on your head. Let the rollers cool for a few minutes before carefully removing them. Arrange the curls with your fingers. If you have created more curl than you want, lightly brush through your hair to relax it. Finish the look with hair crème or pomade as described above.
Alternate styling tips:
A low side bang is attractive with this type of style. Part your hair over the outside corner of one eye. Curl the whole bang section into one curl with a large curling iron. Comb it into a wave that falls over the other eye.
If your hair is long, prepare it as instructed above, but place large curls only in the bottom third of your hair, keeping the top smooth.
Add a little fullness in the crown with soft back-combing. Keep the front and sides close to your head.
Finish your style with light to medium hold flexible hair spray that controls while allowing it to move.
