Nature Crafts Book Review

“Easy Does It-Nature Crafts” is a delightful title from Landauer Books. Both novice and experienced floral designers will find this book to be very useful. It has 60 simple and easy floral projects for home decorating and party favors.

These floral design projects use a wide range of fresh and dried floral materials. They include flowers of all sorts as well as foliage, wheat, eucalyptus, fresh fruits, and pressed flowers. Non-florals include stones, seashells, and feathers.

The projects are arranged by season. From cover to cover, this is brimming with inspirational ideas and projects.

This comprehensive title provides all the basics for beginners. There are chapters devoted to floral design tools and techniques, including all the basics on flower arranging. A chapter is also devoted to harvesting flowers. This explains how to arrange fresh flowers and how to dry them using various methods, including pressing and microwaving.

This book devotes particular attention to gourds of all sorts. It gives all the basics on growing, drying, and using them for floral arrangements.

Readers will find every imaginable kind of floral arrangement here. This has color illustrated, foolproof, easy to follow, step by step instructions for all the projects and techniques.

There are wreaths of all sorts along with swags, bundles, centerpieces, pomanders, and garlands.

For each season, this has inspiring projects that I can’t wait to try. For fall, there are gourd centerpieces, gourd hangers, and mini-pumpkin candleholders as well as arrangements with autumn foliage.

For Christmas, this has gorgeous decorations and tree ornaments made from pine cones, gourds, and other materials.

For celebrations, check out the floral cake ring made from fresh seasonal flowers.

All in all, floral designers will be delighted with this book. There are arrangements you can use throughout the house.

For entertaining, there are all sorts of projects. These include a beautiful strawberry melting bowl, a citrus centerpiece, ideas for place settings, and party favors.

For gifts, there are paperweights, photo frames, magnets, and decorative boxes.

Some of these projects feature decoupage. For those interested in using faux florals, this title also offers alternatives to the projects using silk and artificial flowers.
