Sugar-Free Apple Pie Recipe

Sugar-Free Apple Pie

This recipe makes a delicious sugar-free apple pie .... with no artificial sweeteners. Use fresh, crisp Fuji or Yellow Delicious Apples.

  • 7 to 8 Fuji or Yellow Delicious Apples, medium to large size (or enough to generously fill a 9" pie)
  • 1/3 cup frozen apple juice concentrate, no sugar added - thawed
  • 3 T. cornstarch
  • 1 T. cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • pie dough for a 9" double-crust pie
  • 1 T. butter

Preparation -
Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Place the apple wedges in a large mixing bowl. Whisk the apple juice concentrate, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a separate bowl. Gently stir the mixture into the apple wedges. Line a 9" pie dish with rolled out pie dough . Spoon the apple mixture into the unbaked crust. Dot with small pieces of butter. Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the apple pie filling. Seal and flute the edges and cut a few slits in the unbaked top crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 375º for 30 minutes. Increase the oven temperature to 400º. Continue baking for 15 to 20 more minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is lightly browned.
