Hot as Hell

Hello, and welcome back! Winter's trying to start a little early here, with the snow we've had for several days in the past week. I'm quite enjoying it, though the wind when it's so chilly isn't as much fun. I suppose that just means it's time to stock up on the hot chocolate and tea for the winter, and to start grabbing up the December romances in the store that haven't landed in my review stack.

But I haven't quite shared all the November romances with you all yet. This time out, I have the latest from HelenKay Dimon, Hot as Hell (Brava). Following up her last story with Gray, sister Lexy Stuart has recently broken off her engagement because her fiance, the hot, sexy and frustrating Noah Paxton can't seem to open up and tell her the truth about himself. So now she's off at a 'spa' in the desert, where Noah has tracked her down to try to patch things up between them. He loves her and this time apart has made him completely miserable, as he can only hope she's been. Then she finds a dead guy in her room, and things start to get more interesting. Lexy can't seem to keep her hands off her ex, and Noah has no intention of encouraging her to keep her hands to herself when he wants them right where they are, now and forever. But someone doesn't want them to live happily ever after. Looking at the story summary for this one, I thought, okay, this sounds like something I might want to read. Unfortunately, I'm just not wild about Ms. Dimon's work. There's nothing wrong with the story, and for those of you who enjoy plenty of heat between the hero and heroine, you're in luck, because there are sparks aplenty here. I've finally decided it's a voice thing for me where her work is concerned. It's a perfectly fine story, the tone of it just rubs me the wrong way, I'm afraid. For me, not a keeper, but I'm certain some of you will feel differently about it.

Until next time, happy reading!
