Review: Magician R W McClendon II
I performed December 6 in Akron, Ohio. It was a community Christmas tree lighting.
My sponsor hired Magician R W McClendo others do. His execution was flawless.n II to open for me. It was the first time I have seen him perform.
R W was good. Very good. He was well dressed and looked professional. An example all performers should follow.
He opened with multiplying balls. His routine was different from what I've seen others do. His execution was flawless. He established himself as a skilled performer right away with this.
The rest of his show was simpler tricks. He did the Professor's nightmare, two card tricks, a ring on string, sponge balls, the chop cup and a jumbo version of My Favorite King.""
Although the tricks were relatively simple, his presentations were flawless. Hid Professor's Nightmare routine was brought to a finish by transforming the three ropes into one with a Devil's Hank.
It was a family event filled with children. R W had kids on stage with him for almost every trick. Sometimecan make even a simple trick s, they were nothing more than props. But it got people on stage and made for a good show. It was fun to watch him interact with the children.
If there was one lesson other magicians could take from R W, it is that presentation can make simple effects entertaining to the non-magician. Again, he opened with a display of skill with the multiplying balls. Once he established himself as a magician, even the easier, (to us magicians), effects look that much more magical.
So take note here, it is not how difficult a trick is that entertains. Your audience doesn't know how simple or difficult a trick is to do. They enjoy how it is performed.
R W is very active in the Akron area. He performs walk-around at local restaurants. He also does wedding receptions and college events. He is available for tradeshows and other corporate events.
