Maximum Exposure

Hello, and welcome back! I imagine some of you reading this are among the many other areas of the U.S. that actually had snow on the first day of winter. Sadly, we did not here. On the other hand, we did bake some really yummy cookies instead. I've got two more days of dealing with the mad holiday shoppers, and then a short break. I'm very much looking forward to next month, when things will settle down at work again.

This time out, I have Alison Kent's Maximum Exposure (Brava) to share with you. Finn McLain is on an investigative job in Miami when he meets the sexy Olivia Hammond, and it just so happens that the investigation he's doing involves one of the managers of her trendy boutique. Then it turns out that manager isn't the person he's been pretending to be, instead an undercover agent on his own investigation of some of the goings-on around that boutique. Exhibitionist Olivia asks Finn to photograph her for an erotic art show before she even knows his name, a request he shouldn't even consider while he's doing a job, but that he can't stop thinking about. Then there's her manager, Roland, aka Roman, who's been resisting the sexy assistant to the gallery owner (who happens to be Finn's client) who wants Olivia's photographs for a show. Oh, yes, and the gallery owner also happens to be madly in lust with Roman. Is that a tangled enough mess for you? Olivia, unfortunately, is not very likable, nor is Jodi, the assistant. More likable are Finn and Roman, but in this story, I didn't love them either. This one is plenty sexy, but it's hard to tell which couple is really the main set of protagonists in the story, as they both get quite a lot of page time. And the tangled relationships didn't make me love it any more. Unfortunately, this one wasn't one I was happy with when it was over; I could have started on the January romances a little bit sooner had I skipped this. I'm giving it only two of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
