Cut Flower Garden Catalogs

For those planning cutting gardens, the following garden catalogs will be very helpful.

Seeds of Change

This company offers 100% certified organic seeds and plants. The catalog has separate sections for annual flowers and perennials as well as biennials. The plant descriptions indicate which ones are used as cut or dried flowers. This gives the days to harvest for annual flowers.

There are instructions for growing each kind. This has an extensive selection of sunflower varieties. The plants are organized alphabetically by common name.


Southern Exposure Seed Exchange

This company specializes in untreated, open pollinated, non-hybrid varieties. Many of these are heirlooms.

Some of the seeds are certified organic. In addition to vegetable seeds, they also sell flower and herb seeds. Within each section, the plants are organized by common name. This has a separate section for everlastings. Under each variety, this gives all the details on planting the seed, the growing requirements for the plant, and descriptions. They have a great selection of sunflowers and gourds that will be of interest to floral designers.


Stokes

This catalog offers lots of different flower varieties for cutting gardens. This also has vegetable and herbs as well. Though there is an index for the vegetable listings, I donít find one for flowers.

This has separate sections for annual flowers and perennials. The flowers are arranged alphabetically by botanical name. There is a symbol beside the name of each cut or dried flower. It features lots of different varieties of sunflowers and other major kinds of cut flowers. This also features lots of flowering kales and cabbages, snapdragons, sweet peas, and zinnia. This gives information on seed planting and growing requirements for the plants.


White Flower Farm

This is a huge catalog with over 140 pages. They sell all sorts of plants from vegetables and fruits to edible crops. In addition to perennials and bulbs they also sell annuals. Many of the varieties they offer are suitable for cut or dried flowers. Daylilies and daffodils are two of their specialties.

The A-Z listing of perennials explains which ones are used for cut flowers. It gives the growing conditions and needs for each one. The perennials are arranged alphabetically by Latin name. There is an index of common names on the back side of the order blank.


Wilhite Seeds

While Wilhite specializes in vegetables, it also sells quite a few kinds of flower seeds as well. Many of these are suitable for cut flower gardens. This catalog also offers a special cutting garden seed mix, which is mostly different kinds of annuals.
