The world comes alive in the spring. This represents a new beginning. Greet the new season with spring-themed floral arrangements. Among consumers, cut flowers are a popular choice for Easter.

This season offers a wonderful kaleidoscope of flowers. For spring, the emphasis is on pastels that awaken the senses. In addition, a mix of clear bright colors are suitable, such as the jewel tones that are seen in poppies. For the most part, hot colors aren’t as suitable for spring. The exceptions are yellow daffodils and rich red tulips along with ranunculus. Color can also come from ribbons, bows, and containers. Pastel checks and ginghams would be idea.

The beauty of spring can be fleeting. This ephemeral aspect is expressed beautifully in the seemingly fragile delicate petals of the poppies.

Many of the spring flowers also bring wonderful fragrances. The sweet perfume of lilac stems can seem intoxicating. Some daffodils are also fragrant as well.

For early blooms, force woody stems indoors. Most fruit trees and ornamental fruit trees are very good for forcing. However, I wouldn’t use those of the Bradford pear those blossoms have an unpleasant scent.

Along with pastels, green is a perfect color for spring. This reminds us that the earth is becoming verdant and springing to life. This is a time when wheatgrass looks its best in floral arrangements. This material is ideal for shallow bowls and trays. It can also be used much like moss. I’ve also seen tiered cake stands used. You can cut and trim the blocks of wheatgrass to fit
the container you’ve selected.

Up until Easter Sunday on April 12th, colorful Easter eggs can be used as part of spring floral displays. However, birds’ nests filled with pastel bird eggs are suitable throughout the spring months.

There are ways to introduce other spring themes in tasteful ways. Playful bunny and Easter egg motifs can appear on containers, ribbons, and bows. I have a ceramic Peter Rabbit basket, which has scenes and quotes from the original book by Beatrix Potter.

For spring arrangements, the containers need not be elaborate. In fact, metal pails and buckets are perfect for daffodils, tulips, and other spring bulbs.

For setting the spring table, use some of the same ribbon to tie around your napkins. Tiny garden statuary of baby chicks and bunnies can be used with large centerpieces. Set these on the table around the base of the arrangement.
